Art Force Five developing comprehensive initiative for City of Rochester (read proposal)

Alfred, NY – Dan Napolitano, director of Alfred University’s Drawn to Diversity program, has been granted sabbatical for the January-May 2016 semester to supervise an Art Force Five team within the Rochester community. He is currently seeking partnerships and has been meeting with various Rochester agencies. Please e-mail D2D@alfred.edu if your agency is interested in being a part of this efforts.

Abstract: Alfred University’s Art Force Five will purposefully insert community-based art projects into the City of Rochester, NY, serving as productive outlets for discontent surrounding issues of perceived injustice. Working with local police, media and city government, the Art Force Five will provide highly visible, short-term art construction projects, offering hundreds of residents the opportunity to express their perspective, through a physically-interactive examination of complex issues. These “touchpoint” offerings will serve as a model of effective and extremely time-efficient communication for use by other cities struggling with inequity, social unrest and the potential of violent demonstrations.
